ob Purpose
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Manager to join our team. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing, including managing payroll systems, ensuring accurate and timely payments to employees, and maintaining compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
What You'll Do
Payroll Management
- Lead and manage payroll processing for 1000 employees across multiple locations, ensuring timely and accurate payroll execution
- Handle standard and complex payroll transactions, including retroactive calculations, manual adjustments, error resolution and root cause analysis.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
Compliance
- Maintain compliance with all local, state and federal tax regulations, wage laws and company policies
- Work with external vendors to prepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports, including W-2s, and quarterly tax returns
- Conduct periodic audits of payroll processes and records to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Establish and monitor internal controls relative to the correct processing of wages, garnishments, incentives and deductions.
System Administration and Record Keeping
- Oversee timekeeping system to accurately record employee hours and troubleshoot issues with urgency
- Maintain accurate payroll records
Collaborative Resource
- Serve as key resource for payroll related inquiries, providing support to employees, leaders, HR and Finance teams.
- Coordinate with other human resources team members to ensure accurate and up to date employee information
- Partner with Finance for reconciliation of General Ledger, Debits/credits, reports
Onsite Office Support
- Sort mail and coordinate distribution of employee orders
- Answer front door and connect guest with colleagues
- Onsite notary (company supported)
- Work with a high level of professionalism, ethics and confidentiality
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Your Background:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required, specialty in accounting, finance, math, economics or human resource preferred.
- Experience: 5 years of payroll processing experience required. Experience supervising and managing a payroll team is preferred. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus.
- Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel skills including experience with functions like V-lookup, pivot tables. Experience with HRIS system; Paycor HRIS preferred.

Where You'll Work
- This role works primarily 3 days a week in our Hillsborough office and 2 days a week remote.
- During peak season (May - September), this position will work on paydays at our warehouse in Mebane, NC
