What are the responsibilities and job description for the Orthopedic Casting Technician Northeast position at Sports Medicine Associates of San Antonio?
Seeking immediate hire to join our Radiology Department at our Northeast location as a Casting Technician in a high-profile Sports Medicine Group supporting 15 physicians and 6 clinic locations.
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Application and removal of all types of casts, splints and soft goods. Modify casts as needed in clinic when necessary for the patient benefit.
- Instruct patient, parents/legal guardians in appropriate use and care of casts and Orthopedic equipment.
- Responsible for inventory of all casting materials, splints and soft goods.
- Capturing and entering patient information into EMR. e. Ensuring appropriate documentation and reports are available for provider's review.
- Rooming of patients into exam rooms with preparation for exam and assisting provider with exam.
- Perform clerical duties for clinic
- Assist patients with check in process and/or scheduling additional appointments
- Assist the provider with procedures as necessary.
- Under the direction the provider will schedule diagnostic tests to include pre-authorization and notification of patient.
- Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms.
- Cross cover other clinical departments when necessary
- Protects patient, self, and other staff from hazards.
- Maintains required records including patient records, daily logbooks, and monthly reports.
- Input charges for Casting performed.
- Data entry/medical record scanning.
- Complies with safety standards.
- Performs required housekeeping activities within radiology department.
- Assist clinical staff with the ordering and resupply of medical and office supplies and equipment.
- Perform and/or assist with clinical duties when time allows and/or when other duties are assigned.
- Regular attendance required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of NextGen EHR software (preferred)
- MS Office, basic office support skills (telephone, filing, data entry) and basic math skills.
- Excellent telephone etiquette, pleasant personality and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain focused while managing a high-volume, time-sensitive workload
- Plans and prioritizes to meet deadlines
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in a similar role required.
- 1-3 years of experience as a casting technician, preferably in an orthopedic practice environment
- High school diploma or GED required
- Other requirements: Registered Orthopedic Technologist (preferred). Current CPR or BLS Certification (preferred)
Job Type: Full-time - Monday through Friday with a few rotating Saturday mornings. Traveling involved from one clinic to another based-on schedule. Dependable transportation required.
