What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pre-Mill Construction Carpenter position at Sportsman Boats Mfg.?
Sportsman Boats is looking for a Pre-mill Construction Carpenter who will work with the milling operations team in the fabrication of wood and foam plugs and plug builds.
What you will do:
- Assist in set up of 5 axis machines for milling large complex parts
- Fabricate large wood platforms for new plug builds
- Work with EPS foam, tooling board and other composites to construct plugs to be milled
- Follow CAD drawing specifications for detailed foam layouts
- Work with chemicals including epoxy putty, spray glue and 2-part foam
- Operate a fork lift
- Keep work area clean and organized at all times
- Follow safety standards at all times
- Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
What you need to have:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to read and interpret engineered drawings and work instructions
- Possess good mechanical aptitude, good manual dexterity, knowledge of tools and their use
- Experience with carpentry operating air/hand tools, drills, saws, and grinders
- Task oriented, demonstrated ability to learn, work independently, and under instruction as needed
- Strong attention to detail
- Comprehension of chemicals used in this process
- Good eye sight
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English
- Able to work overtime when necessary
