The Store Manager is responsible for optimizing store sales and profitability in a customer first environment. Through direct input and delegation they coordinate employee management, cash register operations and inventory. The store manager directs a team that may include a combination of an assistant manager, area supervisors, cashiers and customer service, sales and operational team members and maintains ownership of delegated responsibilities through active training, goal setting and consistent coaching and follow up to ensure store success. Their overall aim to profitably provide customers with an outstanding shopping experience. Key Accountabilities:
- Sales and “bottom-line” profits of the store.
- Maintain, encourage and possess “ownership mentality”
- Provide clear and consistent direction to all reports to achieve overall store and company goals
- Customer Service
- Provide exceptional customer service and ensure the employees also provide the same level of service.
- Resolve customer problems or complaints by determining optimal solutions and setting expectations for consistent execution
- Continuous oversight of employee /customer interactions to find opportunities for improvement
- Establish an expectation of empathy and sense of urgency for all customer interactions
- Employee Management
- Recruit, hire, train, evaluate and counsel store employees. Schedule, organize and direct assignments.
- Communicate individual, department and store sales goals and coach employees on proper techniques to achieve and exceed goals and opportunities for improvement
- Develop and implement employee performance evaluations and improvement plans. Encourage store employees to take ownership for their performance and career development plans; follow up on a regular basis.
- Effectively manage employee turnover. Provide a positive working environment and handle employee issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Administrative and Budgeting
- Utilize labor management tools, including effective scheduling, to maximize productivity, profitability and margins. Review all department schedules to optimize staffing levels from an all store readiness view as well as individual department coverage
- Advertising and Promotions
- Participate actively in ad meetings and develop meaningful promotions to drive sales and customer interest
- Develop ongoing promotion plan and budget for customer events and sales promotion (exp. Ladies Night, Whitefish Lake Run, Fishing Derbies, Ski Cruncher, Customer Appreciation) Communicate, execute, and manage marketing and merchandising programs.
- Work directly with buyers to create promotions and develop merchandising strategies
- Conduct store meetings as needed communicate expectations or promote employee awareness
- Ensure employee awareness of safety and emergency procedures.
- Ensure interior and exterior of store is maintained to company standards.
- Schedule and manage annual inventory process
- Execute and monitor loss prevention and shrink programs in conjunction with loss prevention manager
- Set expectations of standards of all store operational issues, to include store housekeeping, store administrative duties, physical inventories, price changes, etc.

- This position does not have a remote worker option • Models Loss Prevention control and compliance procedures
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and bend, twist and reach repeatedly throughout shift • Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds and move about on the sales floor, ascends/descends a ladder as needed to access product and assist customers
