What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Manager position at SPoT Coffee?
- We are looking for an experienced Human Resources Professional to ensure that all human resources (HR) operations are carried on smoothly and effectively. This position is for multiple locations and is centrally run out of our Head Office. You should be able to manage programs while also possessing a strong strategic mindset. The goal is to ensure that all HR needs of the company are being met and are aligned with all business objectives. Critical thinking is essential, as is good time management skills, and being detail-oriented. This is a very hands on position. Some travel may be required.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Payroll: TheHuman resource Manager is responsible for collecting and entering all payroll accurately and timely. You will collect the necessary information from the managers, and ensure that it is accurately submitted. Ultimately, the responsibility of the accuracy of payroll lies in the HR Manager's department.
- Employee recruitment: This includes screening applicants, arranging interviews and taking prospective employees on company tours. At times, you may have to attend job fairs, maintaining really ads and run recruitment campaigns. Conducting Open Interviews for some locations may be required as well.
- Training and onboarding: The HR manager handles the onboarding of new employees through our digital onboarding system. During this process, you will send a welcome email to the employee with directions on completing the digital onboarding. You will ensure that all digital onboarding forms are complete prior to beginning their first shift. You will explain key information and answer questions from new hires.
- Staff Development: In collaboration with management, human resources generates professional development programs to help employees succeed in their respective line of work. They’ll monitor how many employees are in each program, their performance, their manager’s feedback and the results to see if more training is required. Some programs include:

- ·Staff evaluations: The HR manager sets the schedule for employee evaluations and works in tandem with the managers of the locations to implement employee performance reviews. You are also to oversee and to resolve any issues and manage paperwork regarding pay increases, promotions and demotions.
- Insurance claim forms: The HR Manager may also need to stay updated on insurance laws, providers and paperwork to help a business work efficiently. This includes handling health, dental and compensation insurance.
- De-escalation of conflict: Using their interpersonal skills, the Human Resource Manager will mediate between an employer and employee and department managers. This may include negotiation tactics, analytical thinking and decision-making.
- Labor relations: The HR Manager is well-versed in labor laws, enabling them to revise policies and procedures as necessary. They also update staff on new laws and regulations and address company process changes.
- Legal issues and formal complaints: It's a human resource manager's job to research and document common legal issues and formal complaints so they can stay current on laws and help protect the company and its staff.
