TITLE OF POSITION: VIDEOGRAPHER & PHOTOGRAPHER
(FEBRUARY 2020)
REPORTS TO: Communications Director
POSITION TYPE: Non-exempt Full Time, 40 hours/week
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: To serve the church, its ministries and the ministries it supports by providing videography and photography services as needed, both production and advising through various media outlets both inside and outside of the church. To support the mission of the church by visually representing our purpose and our passion faithfully and accurately both at Spotswood and in the community.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Shoot, edit, and produce video for the Spotswood website, social media platforms, print publications, email communications, public relations outreach, advertisements, special events, meetings/presentations, and other media as needs arise. Contribute photos as experience and expertise allow.
- Generate high-quality still images and videos worthy of wide audiences that showcase
Spotswood programs, people, events, and other offerings.
- Recruit and develop volunteer photographers from the congregation including the student ministry.
- Receive and manage all church video and photography requests. Schedule, organize, and manage video and photo shoots. Maintain a video and photo shoot calendar. Assign student photographers as needed to cover campus events and satisfy requests.
- Contribute to the office's videography needs as video experience/expertise allow.
Storyboard concepts, film and conduct interviews, gather necessary b-roll footage, and edit videos to meet the Church's marketing and communication standards and needs.
- Suggest and implement ideas for photo essays and promotional shoots that will help
Spotswood recruit and retain members, and build community.
- Work to ensure all photography and videography created by the Communications
Department meets the Church's brand guidelines.
- Brainstorm and suggest ideas for adding a photo or video component to publications, stories, and other promotional efforts.
- Work with other church ministry teams to maximize photo reach, and ensure our best photos are published on the Spotswood website. Provide curated photo options and highlights from recent shoots to colleagues on a weekly basis.
- Attentively archive and organize valuable photography and video assets for reuse in future projects. Add and organize photos in the Church dropbox account.
- Maintain all photography and videography gear and equipment.
- All other administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Work Experience and Education Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience in video and digital photography, preferably in a church, newspaper, nonprofit, college, or university setting.
- Previous experience working for a church is a plus.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Demonstrates proficiency in Adobe programs including Photoshop, Premiere,
Lightroom, and After Effects.
- Ability to expertly operate mid- to high-level cameras, video cameras, microphones, and lighting.
- Demonstrates proficiency and passion for modern photography and videography styles.
- Enthusiasm for a variety of image styles and a commitment to quality work across genres.
- Must be dependable, respectful, self-motivated, adaptable, efficient, and personable.
- Must be able to fit into the Spotswood culture and the “church DNA”
- Must be able to work well with a wide range of people, including Pastors, staff, members, and volunteers. Must be comfortable working both independently and with our collaborative team of creative professionals.
- Must be able to juggle multiple projects, respond to immediate requests, and work in a high-energy, deadline-driven atmosphere.
- Must employ a deep respect and appreciation for our various audiences and their interests and habits.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule. Regular hours will be Monday-Friday, approximately 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but some evening and weekend hours will be required. However, your work week will be limited to 40 hours.

Pay: $33,000.00 - $34,000.00 per year
