Employment Terms: This position is classified as an as hourly support role. The schedule for this position will be considered part-time and structured on an hourly, as needed basis. This position is evaluated annually.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking an hourly Paraeducator to assist teachers and other professional practitioners by providing instructional support in Title I classrooms through encouraging, supporting and uplifting students at Lee Hill Elementary School to achieve their maximum potential.
Essential Job Functions
- Assists students with the organization and completion of daily work assignments
- Assists with evaluating and testing students
- Works with small groups of students in various subject areas
- Follows established procedures for monitoring student behavior when supervising small or large groups
- Monitors students whereabouts and observe student safety
- Performs routine clerical duties such as copying, typing, answering/making telephone calls, and basic troubleshooting
- Performs additional non-instructional duties including, but not limited to, cafeteria duty, bus duty, hall duty, and office duty
Required
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of two (2) years working with children within an instructional, educational or related setting
- Associates Degree from an accredited college or university
- Paraeducators hired to support within a Title I school must meet the requirements to obtain designation of \"highly qualified\" which include:
- Complete two years of study at an institution of higher education; -OR-
- Obtain an Associate's (or higher) degree; -OR-
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness, writing, readiness, and mathematics readiness)
