Spotsylvania's County Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and qualified Instructor to plan and provide engaging learning experiences for students in the field of Technology and Engineering Education. Our Career and Technical Education Instructors develop and implement instructional programs that effectively provide the best possible education for each and every student. Additionally, this role will leverage strong communication skills to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and stakeholders to support student success.

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 10.5-month (210 Day) position. Additional compensation is awarded for credits earned toward advanced degrees. New employees to Spotsylvania County will be compensated for up to 20 years of experience.

Essential Functions
- Designs coherent instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, current instructional practices, students, the community, and curriculum goals.
- Plans instruction to achieve desired objectives that reflect the Virginia Standards of Learning and division curriculum guidelines; creates instructional materials that align with state standards and meets the needs of all learners.
- Creates and leverages a variety of assessment strategies and instruments to make both short-term and long-range instructional decisions to improve student learning; administers formal assessments both at the state level and the county level in accordance with established procedures;documents student learning gains using appropriate assessment instruments; tracks student learning to show gains.
- Identifies and communicates specific student performance expectations; evaluates students' progress; provides students with prompt specific evaluative feedback, maintains appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Leverages appropriate materials, technology, and resources in a manner that promotes the development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills.
- Implements a classroom management policy that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff; ensures the adequate and safe supervision of students and manages classroom procedures to maximize academic learning time.
- Takes responsibility for and participates in a meaningful and continuous process of professional development; maintains licensure at the state and/or national level; assumes responsibility for professional growth and keeps materials, supplies, and skills up-to-date.
Required
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
- Technology Education
- Engineering
- Experience with computer-aided design programs such as AutoCAD
- Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Technical Professional License with a Technology Education endorsement
- Prior teaching experience within a public school system and/or vocational educational program
