Spoyslvania County Public Schools is seeking a School Security Officer (SSO) to join the team at Courtland High School, home of the Cougars. As an SSO, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. While a large part of your role will be focused on maintaining the school environment, you will also recieve training by our Department of Safety that will prepare you with knowledge of emergency drills, building evactuation, saftey audits, and more!

Essential Job Functions :
- Patrols parking lots,hallways, stairwells, restrooms, cafeteria, remote areas and school grounds to assure the safety and security of staff, students, and visitors.
- Enforces school safety and security rules and regulations.
- Monitors the arrival and departure of students and staff to include parent drop off and pick up, and bus loading / unloading.
- Participates in school safety committee meetings regarding student conduct, and threat assessments.
- Checks parking permits of students and staff and reports violations to administration..
- Checks all windows, doors, and entrances of the building to make certain they are secure and check for possible fire code violations; reports any physical or mechanical damage on the school premises to building administration.
- Works with administration to investigate and report any unusual conditions, disturbances, or possible violations of Code of Student Conduct.

Employment Terms : Employment may be offered as a 10-Month (185 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually.
