Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking a student-focused, dedicated Paraeducator to assist teachers and other professional practitioners by providing instructional support in self-contained classrooms with students who have special needs (Autism, Developmental Delays, Multiple Disabilities, Learning Support and Behavior Support) whose educational needs are not met by a general education environment.
Essential Job Functions :
- Assist students with the organization and completion of daily work assignments
- Assist in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and healthy atmosphere, which may include assisting students with social skill development, personal hygiene, toiletry needs / toilet training
- Follows established procedures for monitoring and redirecting student behavior when supervising small groups
- Maintains and organizes students instructional materials and / or cumulative files
- Administer and / or assist with preparing for various assessments for students as necessary
- Uses special skills (i.e. sign language, transliterating, advanced computer training) to assist in two-way communication between the teacher and the student as necessary
- Performs additional non-instructional duties including, but not limited to, cafeteria duty, bus duty, hall duty, and office duty
