Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking a Transportation Dispatcher to handle bus radio communication to ensure drivers perform their scheduled routes safely and timely. Ideal candidates for this position are problem solvers who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment! This role is perfect for expierenced Bus Drivers who seek an opportunity to join the administrative side of a Transportation department.
Essential Job Functions:
- Responds to radio traffic from bus drivers and school administration
- Receives, relays, and/or transmits routine and emergency calls to police, fire, and other public safety agencies.
- Contact the police and 911 services as required in the event of an emergency.
- Monitors bus calls on DIS TAC frequency.
- Maintains a log of radio transmissions, telephone calls, and other pertinent information and facts.
- Prepares correspondence and maintains records on a personal computer system; attends training sessions on software programs used by transportation and the school division.
- Assigns substitute drivers and attendants; assigns field trip locations to drivers and ensures drivers arrive and depart on time.
- Serves as a substitute bus driver as needed

Education and Experience:
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid State Driver's License and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a bus endorsement with a non-negative point balance
Preferred
- Basic First Aid/CPR certification
- Five (5) years of successful school bus driving experience

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 12-Month (243 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually.
