The Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) funding supports schools and community-based organizations to provide quality preschool programs for at-risk children to ensure they enter school fully prepared for success. Spotsylvania County Public Schools is actively seeking a Paraeducator to work alongside our Elementary School teachers as they deliver a high quality education experience to our preschool students.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists students with the organization and completion of daily work assignments
- Assists with evaluating and testing students
- Works with small groups of students in various subject areas
- Follows established procedures for monitoring student behavior when supervising small or large groups
- Monitors students whereabouts and observe student safety
- Performs routine clerical duties such as copying, typing, answering/making telephone calls, and basic troubleshooting
- Performs additional non-instructional duties including, but not limited to, cafeteria duty, bus duty, hall duty, and office duty

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of two (2) years working with children within an instructional, educational or related setting

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 10-Month (185 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually. Additional compensation awarded for credits earned toward advanced degrees. New employees to Spotsylvania County will be compensated for up to 20 years of experience.
