COMPENSATION INFORMATION
The salary range(s) represents our good faith estimate for the role at this time. While we strive to provide competitive and transparent compensation, there may be circumstances where an offer is above or outside of the listed range. We are open to discussing salary expectations with qualified candidates considering factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and geographic location will all be considered during the hiring process.

  • Lead Market Analyst Pay Range - $ 109,500 -  $ 142,250
  • Sr Marker Analyst Pay Range - $ 95,200 - $ 123,700
  • Market Analyst II Pay Range: $ 76,000 - $ 96,900
  • Market Analyst I Pay Range: $ 62,500 - $ 76,550

 Join our Market Policy Coordination team as a Market Analyst!

The Market Analyst is responsible for driving efficiencies in market processes, overseeing market initiative development, tracking and reporting, and providing technical policy support throughout the market's design and implementation phases. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with market design requirements. This position offers the opportunity to shape market processes, resolve complex issues, and provide leadership within SPP's market functions.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and implement efficiencies in market processes and oversee market initiative development from design conception to post-implementation reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to SPP stakeholder processes such as the Revision Request (RR) process, protocol management process, and strategic initiative request process.
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise in policy discussions, working closely with cross-functional SPP staff, market participants, vendors, FERC, and other RTOs/ISOs.
  • Lead special projects and support day-to-day tasks to create and evolve wholesale energy market tariffs and protocols, market processes, and tracking and reporting procedures.
  • Collaborate with SPP Operations, Legal, Regulatory, Settlements, and Congestion Hedging departments to ensure that software and processes are aligned with market design.
  • Ensure compliance with the Integrated Marketplace Protocols and SPP Tariff by resolving complex market and operations software issues.
  • Manage individual work efforts, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones and effective analytical decision-making.
  • Strong presentation, public speaking, accountability, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of the FERC jurisdictional SPP Tariff, Integrated Marketplace Protocols, Markets Protocols, WEIS Protocols, SPP Criteria, and Business Practices.
  • Proven ability to facilitate market policy discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Expertise in analyzing market changes, system processes, and impact assessments.
  • Leadership experience in managing cross-functional market processes and project priorities.
  • Ability to provide analytical leadership and support for market staff and customer service functions, including RR development and protocol drafting.
  • Experience in FERC filings, including providing data and assisting in drafting testimony.
  • Strong understanding of and adherence to SPP Policies and Procedures.

 To be successful as the Market Analyst, we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance or other related degree.
  • Lead Market Analyst - 10 years of electricity market experience that includes knowledge of market software systems; this is in excess of the educational requirements experience above
  • Sr. Market Analyst - Five (5) years of industry experience
  • Market Analyst II - Two (2) years of job-related work experience
  • Market Analyst I - No experience required
  • Ability to recognize and address strategic issues important to Markets
  • Proficient at organizing and conducting complex technical and analytical studies
  • Skilled at analyzing complex issues and communicating results to diverse stakeholders
  • Proficient at organizing and conducting technical and analytical studies
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, and ability to understand strategic challenges and position solutions to address these
  • Knowledge of electric market concepts and ability to apply understanding in unique analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Competent working skills with communication and data handling software such as Microsoft Office, Excel and Access
  • Demonstrate proficiency in business acumen and professional conduct
  • Demonstrate the ability to function with constantly changing and multiple priorities
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Ability to work with a broad spectrum of individuals with diverse interests when resolving problems
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships at all organizational levels with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work closely with leadership in a dynamic, and fast-paced environment requiring the individual to manage simultaneously several tasks, while paying attention to detail and quality

Preferred:

  • Experience in Open Access Transmission Tariff, Integrated Marketplace Protocols, and working knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards, FERC regulatory orders of regional significance to SPP Markets
  • Experience in utility operations, RTO operations or energy trading
  • Experience with data manipulation and analysis of large data sets

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.

Travel Requirement:

This position requires moderate travel (approximately 20%).
