The Vice President (VP) of Finance for Sprecher Brewing Company is responsible for overseeing all financial activities, ensuring the company’s financial health, and driving strategic financial decisions. This senior leadership role requires expertise in financial planning, risk management, and operational finance to support business growth and long-term success. This role also requires strong expertise in manufacturing and production accounting and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s goals and growth initiatives.
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.
- Maximizes return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Responsible for daily reporting (sales, cash etc.) and timely month end close (six working days after month end). Provides status of financial condition by reporting, analyzing, and interpreting the month end data.
- Responsible for year-end close and working with external auditors so year-end financial statements are completed timely.
- Responsible for the accuracy and completion of the federal, state, and local tax requirements such as sales tax reports, real and personal property tax returns, and income tax returns.
- Responsible for monitoring debt covenants in the various loan agreements.
- Leads the annual budget process. Working with the business to develop budgets that are aggressive but attainable.
- Responsible for annual insurance renewal / audit and participates in annual health insurance renewal.
- Assist in the development and calculation of commissions and bonus plans.
- Participate in any merger and acquisition activity, including, but not limited to, financial forecasting, due diligence, and integration.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of the financial staff including training, coaching, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the CEO and executive team.
- Drive cost efficiency and profitability initiatives across departments.
- Collaborate with investors, banks, auditors, and other external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in accounting/finance.
- Experience with financial reporting requirements.
- Must have experience managing processes, developing standards, and creating and tracking budgets.
- Working knowledge of tax codes and laws
- Proficiency with accounting software required; Microsoft Business Central experience a plus.
- Proven proficiency in auditing, accounting, and corporate finance.
- High level of financial acumen and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team player able to work well with others and contribute to a positive work environment.
- Self-directed, personally motivated with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to perform all essential functions and physical demands of the job.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment, while focusing on meeting and exceeding expectations.
