DAILY DUTIES:

Staffing Rounds

Ensure all staff assigned to the units is there, daily assignments posted on the board (if not

check with charge nurse). & Environmental and Compliance rounds (check barrels, dirty linen rooms, supply rooms in the

units, each unit should have a clean linen cart) Train CNAs on resident room checks/ Compliance rounds Train CNAs on Matrix/ Make sure new hires are added Check all units to make sure all employees have arrived and signed in

Check all units for ADLs compliance an hour before end of shift. Computer and/or binder in unit. . Update CNA communication log in each unit.

• MUST give report to all unit managers regarding findings and REPORT at the end of shift to

DON.

Pick up census information from all floors first thing in the morning . Make sure Badges/ Gait Belts are a part of C.N.A daily dress code. . Other duties as directed by DON or ADON

In addition to providing C.N.A resident care responsibility, the Lead C.N.A shall coordinate and communicate with staffing coordinator and carious departments to enhance resident care and services by providing input/ideas on improvements to nurses and managers, including informing managers regarding any care or personnel issues as appropriate. The lead C.N.A will assist and guide other C.N.A's in their work as necessary, will assist staffing coordinator in scheduling daily assignments sheets, and assure completing of all C.N.A chart and daily responsibilities of resident cares. The Lead C.N.A shall be a mentor for staff C.N.A's and lead by example to provide consistent quality care. The Lead C.N.A shall assist with performing C.N.A annual competency testing, and will provide input to DON and ADON regarding the C.N.A's evaluation. The Lead Nursing Aide works under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing to assist with general nursing care to patients/residents as directed. The Lead C.N.A duties include personal hygiene, comfort and safety measures, assisting with activities of daily living, and simple nursing procedures as trained. The Lead C.N.A assists with maintaining a clean environment for the patient/resident in the rooms and other areas of the unit. The Lead C.N.A works collaboratively with other interdisciplinary team members, CPR training is mandatory and completed within 6 months of hire.

Other duties expected by not limited to include: maintaining clean patient/resident and work environments, stocking patients/resident and work rooms. In addition, this role may include reception duties, i.e. answering phones, providing family and visitor directions, helping physicians find chart reports. Must have strong communication skills to collaborate with other health care team members; expected to provide quality customer service.

Must have good interpersonal skills, must be organized and have the ability to prioritize work. Must know how to use organization policies and procedures requires knowledge of department supplies and monitoring equipment; requires use of multi-line telephone system, fax and copy machines, computer and paging systems. Requires ability to do detailed work correctly, function under and handle stress.

Employment Variables

The nursing department is open 24 hours /day any of those hours may be an expectation of employment specific to the needs of the department. These needs change dependent upon staffing availability. C.N.A Lead will be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Will be required to work occasional office days, but primary duties are on nursing units.
