  • An unrestricted License to practice as a Pediatric Advance Practice Nurse with prescriptive authority in the State of Texas
  • Must have a Doctorate or Masters in Nursing
  • 3 years of experience as a certified Pediatric Advanced Practice Nurse
  • Bilingual - English / Spanish is preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in Computer Skills and Electronic Health RecordsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  • Provides medical services for patients from birth until 18 years of age, as delegated by the supervising Physician and Chief Medical Officer.
  • Prescribe medications and make recommendations for other forms of treatment.
  • Maintains medical expertise and competency as well as demonstrates a thorough knowledge of procedures to deliver quality primary medical care. Provides medical sessions, as scheduled, in direct patient care at the health center.
  • Examines, diagnoses treats and / or refers patients for appropriate specialty care services.
  • Maintains a problem-oriented health record for each patient seen in accordance with the health center's established information management policies and procedures.
  • Completes patient charts as required by health center rules not to exceed 72 hours after the patient is seen.
  • Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic studies and medical protocols.
  • Reviews all lab and x-ray reports for patients under his / her care on a timely basis and makes medical management decisions appropriately. Follows appropriate standards of care for each patient.
  • Provide education and support to patients and receive and address patient's questions and problems.
  • Collaborates with Chief Medical Director, Physicians, other Mid-Level Providers, Clinical Quality Manager, Site Supervisor, Medical Assistants, Front Desk Staff, and other team members to assess the needs of clients.
  • Participates in the review and development of patient care policies, including health maintenance schedules and continuity of care. Serves as a resource and positive, proactive leader for the department.
  • Ensures that patient and family / significant others are educated about diagnosis and the plan of care. Acts as a resource for facilitating communication when necessary.
  • Participates in the evaluation of products, procedures, and patient care standards.
  • Participates in conferences, workshops in specified health promotion, and education and / or prevention programs as needed; attends and participates in clinic meetings / departmental meetings and other clinic functions as required by the Health Center.
  • Accepts responsibility for remaining current with health care trends and information that impact the medical practice.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including filling in for other providers at other sites during their absences.
  • All Health Center staff members have emergency and disaster response responsibilities. Participates in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team.BENEFITS
