What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Pitner position at Spring Branch Community Health Center?
An unrestricted License to practice as a Pediatric Advance Practice Nurse with prescriptive authority in the State of Texas
Must have a Doctorate or Masters in Nursing
3 years of experience as a certified Pediatric Advanced Practice Nurse
Bilingual - English / Spanish is preferred but not required
Proficiency in Computer Skills and Electronic Health RecordsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Provides medical services for patients from birth until 18 years of age, as delegated by the supervising Physician and Chief Medical Officer.
Prescribe medications and make recommendations for other forms of treatment.
Maintains medical expertise and competency as well as demonstrates a thorough knowledge of procedures to deliver quality primary medical care. Provides medical sessions, as scheduled, in direct patient care at the health center.
Examines, diagnoses treats and / or refers patients for appropriate specialty care services.
Maintains a problem-oriented health record for each patient seen in accordance with the health center's established information management policies and procedures.
Completes patient charts as required by health center rules not to exceed 72 hours after the patient is seen.
Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic studies and medical protocols.
Reviews all lab and x-ray reports for patients under his / her care on a timely basis and makes medical management decisions appropriately. Follows appropriate standards of care for each patient.
Provide education and support to patients and receive and address patient's questions and problems.
Collaborates with Chief Medical Director, Physicians, other Mid-Level Providers, Clinical Quality Manager, Site Supervisor, Medical Assistants, Front Desk Staff, and other team members to assess the needs of clients.
Participates in the review and development of patient care policies, including health maintenance schedules and continuity of care. Serves as a resource and positive, proactive leader for the department.
Ensures that patient and family / significant others are educated about diagnosis and the plan of care. Acts as a resource for facilitating communication when necessary.
Participates in the evaluation of products, procedures, and patient care standards.
Participates in conferences, workshops in specified health promotion, and education and / or prevention programs as needed; attends and participates in clinic meetings / departmental meetings and other clinic functions as required by the Health Center.
Accepts responsibility for remaining current with health care trends and information that impact the medical practice.
Performs other duties as assigned including filling in for other providers at other sites during their absences.
All Health Center staff members have emergency and disaster response responsibilities. Participates in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team.BENEFITS
