Position Description:
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
A Department of Public Safety Access Control Dispatcher is a non-union position with duties performed at the Public Safety Base. Access Control Dispatcher is a customer service provider to the residents and visitors of Spring Creek Towers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Access Control
Remain alert and monitor conditions taking place in and around the garage area.
Attendants observe and monitor vehicles and pedestrians that are entering and exiting the garages on base video screens.
Alert and dispatch posts on patrol any suspicious activity or unusual incident requiring further attention by the post Officer.
Maintain a record of the Platoon activities during the tour of duty.
Answer telephones quickly and politely. Gather information to determine if you should grant access to the garage or dispatch a post Officer to the garage.
Dispatcher
Operate the DPS radio with clear concise direction to the posts on patrol.
Answer telephones quickly and politely. Gather information and dispatch patrol officers to the location.
Notify the Supervisor of conditions requiring their attention.
Record all proactive and dispatched assignments in the department digital log. (Chief System)
Notify maintenance of all emergencies requiring their presence and assistance.

REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES:
To be successful Access Control Dispatcher, an employee must maintain confidential information regarding the personal history of employee records.

Multi-task and prioritize incoming calls
Able to clearly and concisely dispatch any condition
CERTIFICATIONS:
Possess and maintain a valid NYS Security License
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to write reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Supervisors and the general public. Ability to use discretion and exhibit high level of confidentiality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to stay alert to surroundings.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor work environment. All hours of the day and night.
