Job Summary
Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and under the direction of the Nurse House Supervisor, the RN Float Nurse independently applies the nursing process to deliver safe, effective, and age-appropriate care across various hospital departments, including Emergency, Medical-Surgical/Swing Bed, and Skilled Nursing.
This role provides break relief and supplemental staffing and may be assigned or independently report to any department based on training and competency. The RN Float Nurse must maintain current proof of competency to ensure consistent, high-quality patient care for individuals ranging in age from infancy to 120 years old.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient care based on individualized assessments and clinical judgment.
- Float between departments to support staffing needs and provide relief coverage.
- Ensure all care complies with regulatory, hospital, and nursing standards.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skill to meet the needs of a diverse patient population.
- Maintain up-to-date competencies for each department served.
Requirements
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of acute care experience within the past 2 years.
- At least 6 months of recent experience in Emergency or Critical Care settings.
Licensure & Certifications:
- Current, unencumbered California RN License.
- AHA certifications: BLS for Healthcare Providers, ACLS, and PALS.
Language:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
