Position: Registered Nurse – Emergency Department
Shift Information:
- Schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
- Hours: 6:00 PM – 6:30 AM
- Weekend Requirement: Works 5 out of 6 weekends
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- Current Iowa licensure as a Registered Nurse
- BLS for Healthcare Providers
- ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
- Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
Brief Description of Job
Under limited supervision, the Emergency Department RN provides, plans, directs, and evaluates total nursing care. This role ensures continuity of care across shifts, maintains collaborative relationships with other departments, and actively participates in continuous education, policy updates, and skills development.
Essential Functions
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional courtesy with coworkers, patients, and visitors
- Integrate the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values into daily practice
- Adhere to dress code standards, including wearing appropriate ID
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality nursing care by planning, organizing, and directing patient care in the Emergency Department
- Use clinical data to determine patient care priorities and develop individualized plans of care
- Administer medications and IV solutions accurately and efficiently
- Perform and document nursing interventions and evaluations in a timely, accurate manner
- Respond to emergencies with calmness and efficiency
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Support Med-Surg and other departments as needed (e.g., direct patient care, STAT orders, medication administration)
Leadership & Communication:
- Guide and mentor personnel, promoting job satisfaction and professional growth
- Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, patients, and families
- Prioritize workload efficiently in a dynamic environment
- Promote and enforce infection control protocols
- Participate in staff orientation and ongoing in-service training
- Demonstrate initiative and maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude
Additional Duties:
- Maintain adequate supplies and functional equipment
- Contribute to departmental changes and improvement initiatives
- Participate in required meetings, trainings, and policy reviews
- Work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
- Assume responsibilities of ancillary support staff during absences
- Perform other duties as assigned

Pay: $55.00 - $60.00 per hour
