Position Title: Maintenance Technician
Reports To: Maintenance & Facilities Superintendent

Position Summary:
This is a full-time position. Under direct supervision of the Maintenance & Facilities Superintendent, the Maintenance Technician assists in managing and executing a year-round comprehensive maintenance plan for a variety of indoor and outdoor recreation facilities.
Essential Functions:
- Support and execute a strategic maintenance plan for SHRC recreational facilities and programs.
- Prepare program space for activities including indoor and outdoor athletics and special events.
- Significant work with outdoor athletic field maintenance, plumbing, electrical equipment and vehicle maintenance. Functional knowledge of equipment repair and maintenance procedures.
- Assists in developing and implements employee safety training plan.
- Assists with hiring, training, scheduling, and organizing PT/Seasonal staff and/or volunteers for maintenance production.
- Direct supervision and management of PT/Seasonal Maintenance Worker positions.
- Contributes to department monthly and annual reports for maintenance, budget, CIP project progress, seasonal impacts, recommendations for adjustments or changes.
- Manages and implements CIP and special projects as assigned.
- Attend seminars and training as designated and necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by Superintendent.
Education, Certification, and Experience Requirements:
- Preferred graduation from a four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in the field of Parks and Recreation or related field.
- Preferred graduation/completion from post-secondary training, coursework, or certification related to facility maintenance.
- Preferred CPRP or other relevant certification.
- Preferred 2 years’ experience work at Municipal Parks & Recreation organization, direct Park maintenance experience.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Communicate thought and objectives in written and verbal form.
- Collaborate with peers in group setting.
- Prioritization of tasks or responsibilities to meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, web-based recreation management software, Adobe, and other software applications.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Maintain confidential information.
- Build strong relationships with individuals and organizations in the Spring Hill community.
- Motivated, trainable, adaptable, effective time, and schedule management.
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to work a varied schedule which could include weekends, evenings, and/or holidays.
- Valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to operate, finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently stoop, kneel, crouch or bend. Manual labor includes lifting and carrying heavy objects, as heavy as 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to all types of weather conditions is expected. Occasional exposure to machinery and excessive noise. Exposure to program materials and equipment such as but not limited to sports equipment, maintenance equipment, cooking and art supplies, etc.
