JOB TITLE: Early Learning Academy Aide
REPORTS TO: Campus Principal
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt
PAY GRADE: Para 3
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Early Learning Academy Aide will assist in supervising the care of young children: Infants through 4 years old.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- High school graduate or GED from an accredited institution
- 8 hours of pre-service training
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting
Preferred:
- 3 years job related experience
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Ability to handle the physical needs of children, infants through 4 years old (diapering, picking up child, wiping noses and handling spit-up; able to sit on the floor with the infants)
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of minimum standards for child care centers
- Knowledge of child developmental stages
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Prepare and implement lesson plans with developmentally appropriate activities
- Know and comply with the minimum standards for child-care centers
- Stimulate and encourage the growth of the child physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually
- Attend to the personal needs of each child including feeding, changing diapers in infants (approximately 60 per day) or soiled clothing and washing hands
- Daily laundering of burp towels, washcloths, crib sheets, etc.
- Sanitize toys and equipment
- Conduct circle time and daily outside time
- Interact with the children in a way which conveys respect and nurturing
- Directly interact with children by getting down on the floor to interact with them
- Support the social and emotional development of the children
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment and other materials appropriate for the young child
- Maintain a safe environment based on Minimum Standards from Department of Protective and Regulatory Services
- Assist in the cleaning, sanitizing and straightening of the room at the end of the day
- Maintain open, friendly and cooperative relationships with each child’s parent.
- Maintain confidentiality
- Continue professional development through attending workshops, conferences and other staff development
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as planned under the oversight of the Early Learning Academy Director
- Maintain current CPE, AED, and First Aid Certifications
WORKING/SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following:
Job may require prolonged periods of time sitting, moderate standing, stooping, bending, reaching and repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress. May require some lifting no more than 10lbs. Overtime is required as necessary.
