JOB TITLE: Manager, Child Care
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Transportation
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Nonexempt
PAY GRADE: Para 4
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Transportation Child-Care Manager will maintain compliance with the minimum standards and State and Federal Licensing laws and is responsible for the daily, on-site operations of the child-care center.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Minimum 21 years of age
- College credit hours from an accredited college or university meeting the following:Nine (9) hours in child development
- Nine (9) hours in management
- Three (3) years experience in a licensed childcare center
Preferred:
- Associates of Applied Science degree in child development or a closely related field with six college credit hours in child development and six college credit hours in management.
- Two years of Child-care management experience in a licensed child-care center
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Knowledgeable and understanding of Texas Minimum Standards for Childcare Licensing
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures
- Desire to work with children ages 6 weeks to 10 years of age
- Must have the ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

SAFETY
- Ensure the child care center’s daily operations is administered in compliance with the Child Care Centers Licensing minimum standards
- Recognize and correct safely related hazards immediately
- Ensure all cleaning, sanitizing of toys and equipment guidelines are followed
- Ensure Emergency Response plan is maintained and updated as required
COURTESY
- Develop and maintain an open, friendly and cooperative relationship with parents and children to ensure their needs are met
- Interact with the children in a way to which conveys respect and nurturing
- Serve as an ambassador for Spring ISD with students, parents, community, other districts, business partners and professional organizations.
RESPONSIVENESS
- Ensure facility and all employees comply with minimum standards
- Foster a department climate of teamwork and mutual respect
- Prepare and implement lesson plans with developmentally appropriate activities
- Stimulate and encourage the growth of the children physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually
EFFICIENCY
- Maintain all files as per state and district guidelines
- Assist in the supervision of child care employees
- Continue professional development through attending workshops, conferences and other staff development
- Manage supplies and inventory to ensure efficient operations.
- Monitor and direct childcare employees
- Provide input into the performance evaluation of assigned personnel
- Perform all other duties as assigned
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility, prolonged sitting, repetitive hand and arm motions, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling. This position will also require traveling within the district. Mental demands: Maintain emotional control, ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written in English for safety reasons. Environmental Conditions: Work outside and inside; moderate exposure to extreme temperature (hot and cold) and vehicle fumes.
