Description

Spring Island Club is seeking an experienced, proactive, and detail-oriented Director of Outdoor Pursuits to oversee all outdoor activities and programs at Spring Island to include boating operations, sporting clays, aquatics, on-island fishing charters and pond management. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills to ensure seamless operations of various outdoor activities, while maintaining high service standards and safety protocols.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Boating and Marine Operations:

  • Schedule and oversee fishing charters and cruises.
  • Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of all boats and marina facilities.
  • Manage boat storage, ensuring proper documentation for spring island registrations.
  • Perform weekly inspections of the boatyard, ensuring boats are moved and organized as needed.
  • Handle boat cleaning schedules and ensure cleanliness after each use.
  • Monitor fuel consumption and manage billing for boat fuel usage through club account.
  • Coordinate with contractors for boat maintenance services, and event planning.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards related to boating activities.

Sporting Clays Operations:

  • Manage clay range schedules, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Order ammunition and supplies as necessary and ensure inventory management.
  • Oversee maintenance of traps, receivers, and shotguns in the clay range.
  • Coordinate sporting clays events, working closely with Food & Beverage staff for event communication.
  • Maintain billing and invoicing for clay range activities, ensuring proper commission payments to staff.
  • Advertise upcoming events via weekly and monthly newsletters.Staff Management:
  • Supervise and manage outdoor staff, including scheduling, training, and ensuring high service standards.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the boating, fishing, and clay range teams.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures for all outdoor activities.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all outdoor equipment and facilities to ensure safety and functionality.

Billing and Invoicing:

  • Oversee billing for all outdoor activities, ensuring prompt and accurate invoices for services.
  • Complete and code all invoices, ensuring timely submission to accounting.
  • Manage billing for club boat slips and covered storage, ensuring all payments are recorded.

Aquatics Management:

  • Oversee daily maintenance of pools, including the lap pool and recreational pool.
  • Ensure daily inspections of pool systems, including chemical balance, filtration, and heating/cooling systems.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and quarterly checks on pool equipment and systems.
  • Maintain accurate DHEC logs and ensure compliance with state regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in outdoor operations management, with focus on boating, sporting clays, and/or aquatics.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage staff and oversee a variety of outdoor activities.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with a focus on maintaining compliance and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with staff, contractors, and members.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and maintain outdoor equipment, incl. boats, pool systems, and clay range equipment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of DHEC requirements and safety regulations related to aquatics and boating.
  • All candidates must currently hold a valid OUPV (6PACK) Captain’s License.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a Level 1 NSCA Sporting Clay Instructor Certification within 1 year.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with POS and billing software.
  • Experience in event planning and management.
  • Knowledge of marine electronics and boat maintenance.
  • Experience managing outdoor recreation programs and staff.
