What are the responsibilities and job description for the Med Room Assistant position at Spring Lake Ranch Therapeutic Community?
The Medroom Assistant is responsible for facilitating med room workflow and resident care activities under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Responsible for thorough and accurate resident documentation, and for performing as a contributing member of the med room team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
- Working with the Registered Nurse, carries out the medical orders for residents given by the SLR Prescriber/psychiatric practitioner/outside providers and updates the EMR system as needed.
- Collaborates with Clinicians and RN toward scheduling appointments for residents with SLR Prescriber/ psychiatric practitioner and outside providers.
- Works with RN to check accuracy of pharmacy MOTs (Meds On Time).
- Pours weekly scheduled medications for residents.
- Restocks needed medication and supplies.
- Records monthly vital signs and collects UAs upon request.
- Packs travel medication for resident trips.
- Assists with medroom cleanliness.
- Provides and coordinates first aid care as needed.
- Assists with the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date nursing notes.
- Maintains close communication with a resident’s treatment team regarding resident’s medical status.
- Makes health/wellness related announcements to residents and staff.
- Assist with new admissions (vital signs, allergies, medication list verification, pill count, pouring).

- Maintains respectful, therapeutic, supportive relationships with Spring Lake Ranch residents at all times.
- Demonstrates willingness to draw upon own personal talents, interests, and passions to participate in special programming for the community and develop relationships with individuals.
- Participates in holidays and other Ranch special events throughout the year.
- Attends weekly staff meeting and staff development opportunities, meeting the licensing training requirements for position.
- Engages in crisis intervention and assistance as needed.
- Performs other duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate with vocational training in, or near completion of medical assistant certification. LNA license or some nursing training would be ideal.
- Experience working (and willingness to work) in a mental health environment.
- BLS Certified (first aid, CPR and AED).
- Must possess clinical, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
- Must work accurately and efficiently in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to seek out appropriate resources to problem solve effectively.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Demonstrates flexibility.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision/direction.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
- Must have a drivers’ license with a good driving record.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.50 per hour
