We are seeking a Programming Coordinator to develop and implement engaging programs tailored to residents with memory care needs. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating activities that promote cognitive function, social interaction, and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and coordinates a resident-centered activity program, including spiritual activities, intergenerational programs, entertainment, and outdoor events.
- Coordinates volunteer programs and oversees resident services, such as shopping trips, beauty salon scheduling, and group outings.
- Sets departmental goals and objectives, develops systems to support these targets, and implements necessary improvements to ensure program success.
- Manages the procurement and maintenance of all activity supplies and equipment, ensuring that all resources are available and in excellent condition.
- Promotes positive community relations by actively contributing to initiatives that enhance public perception and increase awareness of the facility’s programs.
- Operates within the activity budget, ensuring the effective allocation and use of resources.
- Assists in escorting residents on field trips and may transport residents using the company vehicle, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Maintains a current list of residents’ birthdays and ensures timely delivery of birthday cards to celebrate each resident’s special day.
- Demonstrates respect, dignity, and individuality in all resident interactions.
- Maintains confidentiality of resident and family information.
- Upholds honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all responsibilities.
- Builds positive relationships through active listening, dignity, and mutual respect.
- Promotes a positive work environment by supporting facility policies and fostering staff loyalty.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the facility’s overall mission and the well-being of its residents.
- Attends Facility meetings and in-services.
- Facilitates monthly Resident Council Meetings and retains minutes and attendance.
- Attends outside programs regarding activity ideas and regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; three years of experience in activity therapy within a senior community preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with experience in planning and implementing therapeutic programs.
- Compassionate and knowledgeable about the aging process.
- Effective oral communication in English; able to interact with residents, families, staff, visitors, and government agencies.
- Able to move, lift, carry, bend, squat, crawl, reach, kneel, and assist with resident transfers using proper body mechanics.
- Must possess functional sight and hearing or prosthetics to meet job requirements.
- Physically and emotionally capable of managing job-related stress and risks, including exposure to communicable diseases and occasional resident combativeness.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
- Reports to: Director of Nursing.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
