What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant - PRE MED Students position at Spring Valley Internal Medicine?
Seeking an organized, effective Medical Assistant for an Internal Medicine office. No prior experience is required and we are willing to train on the job. This person will be responsible for the day to day operations of this practice. Must be able to perform clinical duties, which are, but not limited to:
- Greeting patients in a polite and professional manner
- Preparing exam rooms and stocking all necessary supplies
- Escorting patients to exam rooms
- Taking and recording required vital signs
- Assisting in maintenance of all patient logs and records
- Performing diagnostic procedures when needed (EKG, vaccinations, etc.)
- Triaging patient calls for pharmacy requests, test results, medical questions and concerns as directed by the physician
- Communicating effectively with physician and staff
- Calling in prior authorizations as needed
You must be self-motivated and have the ability to prioritize and manage tasks and work flow from multiple sources to ensure completion in a timely and accurate fashion.
Qualifications to include but not limited to:
- Required education: Bachelors degree or higher
- Computer skills: word, excel, calendar, etc.
- Possess excellent verbal, written, and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated and able to multi-task efficiently and effectively
- Have a positive attitude and a great work ethic
- Preference for prior medical experience
- Availability to work evening and Saturday shifts as needed
