How you’ll contribute
The Baker performs a variety of preparation, distribution, and sanitation functions in support of assigned areas. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing meals for patients, residents and café.
- Executing functions including developing prep lists, food ordering, recipe development, maintaining records, forecasting café volume, equipment operation and safe food handling
- Prepares or directs preparation of all food indicated on production sheet and directs kitchen workers involved in preparation.
- Assists with preparing food and beverages for distribution to patients, guests, service/dining areas, and catering services.
- Measures and mixes ingredients according to standardized recipes and portion control to prevent waste and ensure high quality products.
- Stores food, beverages, and supplies in designated containers and areas according to policies and procedures.
- Assists with customer-facing duties as assigned, including tray delivery and catering special events.
- Assists with sanitation duties, including dishwashing and maintaining work and food service areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Follows menus provided making changes with consent of supervisor or dietitian.
- Uses a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including grinders, slicers, mixers, and blenders and assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
- Maintains knowledge in allergen free food preparation and ensures allergen free food preparation is enforced and adhered to according to the food handler codes.
Qualifications and requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
- Licenses: Serve Safe Food Handler certification acquired within six months of hire.
- Minimum Work Experience Minimum three years food service experience preferred Knowledge in the principles of sanitation, safe food handling, and knowledge of cooking methods and procedures required
- Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively and professionally with individuals at all levels
