To assist with instruction and educational support for children with disabilities while participating in a focused professional development series in one of three tracks:

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Under leadership of the classroom teacher, provide direct care and supervision of 5-21 year old students in a residential school setting.
- Demonstrate an awareness of the daily classroom schedule and specific assignments.
- Work as collaborative team member, assisting other staff in assigned classroom and throughout the building.
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic learning philosophies and expectations in the classroom.
- Promote a positive, nurturing environment for students.
- Facilitate child involvement in play, assigned therapies, and classroom activities.
- Assist students with activities of daily living, behavior management & support, and goal acquisition.
- Implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) in addition to other service plans and record daily data according to classroom needs.
- Work cooperatively with other staff to promote open communication and teamwork.
- Participate in weekly professional development activities and assignments
- Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Must be a current student in good standing at Hartwick College.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Demonstrate professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. independently and assist in lifting weights exceeding 50 lbs.
- Must successfully complete an on-line training program at Springbrook in areas including but not limited to: Corporate Compliance, HIPPA & Confidentiality, Fire Safety, Universal Precautions/Enhancements, Student rights, Violence prevention, and Choking prevention.
