Special Ed Teacher Preschool

Salary ranges from $58,000.00 to $60,000.00 per year based on education and experience.

Position Summary:
Provide and supervise comprehensive educational services and intervention to assure that the educational needs of all individuals enrolled in their classroom are being addressed. Provides continuity of activities and services to individuals by planning, organizing, staffing, directing, and managing classroom activities, as well as supervising all non-exempt classroom personnel.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate knowledge of instructional practices grounded in the research base of behavioral science for evaluation, measurement, goal planning & modifications, and instruction of participants.
• Demonstrate and support staff in data collection and monitoring techniques to exemplify empirical documentation of progress.
• Conduct initial and ongoing criterion-based assessments and ongoing preference assessments.
• Meet regularly with colleagues and staff regarding new learning targets/goals for each student and input related to behavior management plans.
• Participate in the analysis of skill acquisition data and move targets as determined appropriate.
• Develop Individualized Education Plan (IEP) with support team.
• Ensure the completion of all program documentation for program review and assessment, and reports and plans to meet state requirements.
• Schedule and deliver individual and classroom lessons to meet the needs of students. Manage classroom environment and component therein.
• Supervise and support classroom staff.
• Participate in introductory and ongoing learning opportunities and professional development activities as assigned and approved by supervisor, to include behaviorally based teaching strategies.
• Attend agency, faculty and student meetings.
• Demonstrate an understanding of and compliance with applicable regulatory procedures.
• Communicate progress to families.
• Communicate in an ongoing, positive, and productive fashion with all members of students’ team, to facilitate child learning across environments.
• Establish and maintain communication with school district CPSE chairpersons.
• Coordinate staffing of daycare program hours.

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

• MA in Special Education or Education and NYS teaching certification.
• Must have NYS Students with Disabilities (Birth-Grade 2) credential.
• Teaching experience in an early childhood program preferred.
• Applicant must have a strong behavioral background with autism and other developmental disabilities.
• Experience creating Functional Behavioral Assessments and working with individuals in need of behavioral support is required.
• Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software and e-mail applications, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word; have the aptitude to learn other computer software as necessary.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. independently and assist in lifting weights exceeding 50 lbs.
• Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required.
