DSP (Direct Support Professional)

Job Overview
As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Foster a safe and supportive environment by ensuring cleanliness and organization in living spaces.
• Assist clients with mobility and physical activities, including lifting and transferring when necessary.
• Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's needs, including memory care strategies for those requiring additional support.
• Engage clients in social and recreational activities to promote community involvement and personal development.
• Maintain accurate records of client progress, behaviors, and any incidents that may occur during shifts.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other team members to ensure comprehensive care for clients.

Skills

• Experience in direct support or caregiving roles is preferred.
• Knowledge of first aid practices and emergency response protocols.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work compassionately with people who have disabilities, demonstrating patience and understanding.
• Proficiency in meal preparation and maintaining dietary requirements for clients.
• Capability to perform cleaning tasks as part of maintaining a healthy living environment.
• Physical ability to lift clients safely and assist them with mobility as needed.
