Nature , the ideal candidate will be an experienced scientific illustrator with great art working skills and attention to detail.About the RoleThe Art Editor willplay a crucial role in the production of scientific figures, diagrams, and graphics for publication. As an Art Editor, you will be responsible for both creating original scientific figures and restyling figures supplied by authors to ensure clarity, accuracy, and visual appeal. The role involves sizing, relabelling and redrawing figures; proofreading labels and other text; ensuring consistency of style; collaborating with Nature's art and subediting teams to ensure deadlines are met.You will have the opportunity to work with ground-breaking research for the world's leading scientific journal, Nature, as well as joining a supportive and collaborative team.Role Responsibilities : Liaise with authors and editorial teams to ensure submitted figures meet technical specifications at NaturePrepare scientific figures for publication using Abode Illustrator to meet the highest standards in scientific publishingEnsure consistency of style with diagrams, regarding typeface, type size and the overall style of NatureCheck files for accuracy and legibilityRedraw scientific figures in Nature house-style from author sketchesExperience, Skills & Qualifications : EssentialThe ideal applicant will have an art / design qualification or demonstrable equivalentProven experience in scientific illustration, graphic design, or art editing, preferably in a scientific or academic publishing environmentProficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop)Strong attention to detail with a creative eye and the ability to maintain consistency across multiple projectsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with authors, editors, and other stakeholdersAbility to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlinesDesirableKnowledge of scientific principles and terminology is highly desirableAt Springer Nature, we are committed to creating a great working environment which includes the benefits you receive, opportunities for you to develop your skills and ways to get to know your colleagues.
