We do this by providing a trusted environment in which researchers can quickly, easily and transparently share their discoveries, data and research stories.We are seeking an Associate Publisher or Publisher to manage a portfolio of open access journals in our division that includes both society and proprietary journals. Reporting to an Executive Publisher, you will be responsible for the management, strategic development and success of the individual journals, liaising with internal staff, external journal Editors, and the scientific community.This role is offered on a permanent basis and can be located in our New York, Philadelphia or Heidelberg offices on a hybrid working model.Role Responsibilities : Drive the growth and development of a group of open access journals, successfully devising and implementing annual development plans.Deliver best-in-class author experience and foster maximum engagement from Editors-in-Chief (EiCs), Editorial Board Members (EBMs), and SocietiesManage the annual targets for journal submission, publication and transfer volumes as well as target turnaround times.Resolve pre- and post-publication issues raised by staff, EBMs and readers (e.g. authorship, scope, ethics and consent, misconduct, policies).Manage contract negotiations with external parties by using / developing a working knowledge of financial profit & loss statements and forecasting.Develop strong working relationships with colleagues, researchers, and external Editors, attend meetings where needed.Gather, evaluate, and synthesise information from diverse sources to support data-driven decision-making and strategic planningKeep up to date with changes within the research community and publishing industryExperience, Skills & Qualifications : EssentialEducated to Bachelor's degree level or equivalent, preferably in a relevant field of study (life, biomedical or health sciences)Experience in a similar position in academic publishing is required for the Publisher levelA resourceful and proactive approach in dealing with problems and queries, and the ability to adapt quickly to changeExcellent communication (verbal and written) and influencing skills using diplomacy and assertiveness as appropriateAbility to work cooperatively with colleagues at all levels and as part of a teamAbility to work on your own initiative and independentlyStrong time management and organisational skills; including proven ability to take ownership of tasks and meet deadlinesExperience of developing and maintaining productive and friendly relations / partnerships with academic and industry-based researchersIT systems-literate, with a sharp eye for detailAbility to travel occasionallyDesirablePrevious experience in books or journal academic publishing is desirable for the Associate Publisher level.To apply, please include : A CV which should include a brief account of your accomplishmentsA cover letter explaining your interest in the post and relevant experienceThe closing date for applications is January 3, 2025.Springer Nature US provides a comprehensive and competitive benefits package which includes the benefit offerings listed below : Medical, Dental and Vision401(k) with company match and contributionHybrid office working policy, Summer Hours, and paid time offFlexible Spending and Commuter programsMultiple Life insurance optionsDisability coverageTuition AssistanceVoluntary benefits : Identity Theft Protection, Pet Insurance, and Legal Assistance InsuranceEmployee Assistance ProgramFamily friendly benefits and a variety of employee discountsAn array of Employee Social NetworksUS Annualized Base Salary Range : Associate Publisher : $62,400 | Publisher : $66,000 - $80,000. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education, skill level and equity.
