Job Summary
We’re looking for a highly organized, detail-driven Publication Director | Editorial Coordinator to oversee the editorial flow, partner communications, and content execution of our monthly publication- print and digital platform.
This hybrid role is ideal for someone who loves structure and storytelling—someone who thrives on keeping creative people on track, managing timelines, and curating content that aligns with both our brand and our partners.
You’ll work closely with the Publisher, writers, photographers, and creative contributors to ensure each issue is delivered with quality, consistency, and strategic intent.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly editorial calendar and planning checklist
- Attend monthly editorial meetings and translate content into features
- Assign and follow up with freelance writers and photographers
- Review and upload all content to internal platform in a timely, publication-ready format
- Collaborate with Publisher to ensure all client/community content is represented
- Select and upload feature images, cover options, and story assets
- Proof editorial content for clarity, grammar, brand tone, and accuracy
- Communicate regularly with local contributors to ensure alignment and delivery
- Prepare contributor accounting and ensure accurate payout reporting
- Coordinate with Photographer (s)and subjects for shoot scheduling and image approvals
- Identify local stories, events, and people that align with brand voice and audience interests
Qualifications
- Experience in editorial project management, content coordination, or publication planning
- Strong editing and proofreading skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with content management systems
- Self-motivated and able to work independently on deadline
- Journalism, publishing, marketing, or communications background preferred
- Comfortable giving and receiving feedback, with a collaborative mindset
- Strong alignment with community-driven storytelling
Compensation & Schedule
- 10–12 hours per week
- Part-time, contractor position with flexibility
- Half of hours should be available during standard business hours
- Local candidates preferred, but remote within 15 miles is acceptable for the right fit
