Who We Are:
The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking an Academic Support Aide - PAES for the 2025-2026 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio. We are Wildcats!POSITION SUMMARY:
The Academic Support Aide-PAES (ASA-P) assists secondary students in the Vocational Skills Program by providing hands-on instruction, data-gathering and monitoring in the Practical Assessment Exploration System Lab (PAES). The ASA-P could be a former or retired teacher or paraprofessional who is or is willing to be trained in vocational simulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide support to students in the Vocational Skills Program under the direction of the Transition Coordinator.
Establish and maintain standards of behavior to create safe, orderly, and effective environments for learning.
Provides documentation of activities and data associated with student learning.
Work to resolve obstacles to students in terms of job tasks, work performance, social interaction conflicts, changes in job expectations
Participate in all required meetings including the school’s in-service training. May be asked to assist in the preparation and administration of in-service training;
Ensure the safety and security of all students in program both on-campus and off-campus as assigned;
Supports the implementation of Leader In Me and Social Emotional Learning
Organizes and maintains the lab environment to ensure a safe and accessible space for all students.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintains a professional demeanor; exemplifying responsible support to students and staff
Assist students in the development of responsible behaviors
Engage in collaborative planning with colleagues; supporting building and District level programs.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of 60 college-level credit hours
Obtain Ohio Educational Aide Permit
Minimum of 3 years experience working with students with disabilities at the secondary level required. Experience implementing a career education curriculum, through training and coaching is beneficial.

Ability to manage students with varying academic, social/emotional, and physical needs
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Work typically performed in a hands on learning environment
Likely interaction with students who have endured trauma which sometimes result in physical behaviors with peers and adults(touching, grabbing, hitting, pushing, etc.)
Potential for interactions with emotionally distraught, disruptive and/or unruly individuals
Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases
What We Offer:
Training is provided by the Springfield City School District at no cost to you.
Wage is $23.01 per hour.
Hours and days vary up to 28 hours per week and are assigned by Student Services Transition Coordinator
