Who We Are:
The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seeking a Music Teacher at Kenwood Elementary School for the 2025-2026 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio. As a Teacher you are required to:
- Current Music (K-12) licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education
- Possession of or in the process of applying for The Reading Endorsement or have passed Praxis 5203 (Teaching Reading: Elementary Education)
- Be flexible in your work schedule and be willing to attend/participate in professional development sessions
- Be willing to serve on teams
- Have the ability to relate to and teach students with diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrate enthusiasm in your role
- The ability to effectively differentiate instruction
- Accurately analyze data to plan instruction that is aligned to the common core State Standards
- Design engaging lessons and assessments that meet the needs of all students
- Teach general music as well as choir at grades 5 and 6
- Research based pedagogy and excellent background knowledge of Music
- Be able to work collaboratively with multiple teams to ensure student success
- Establish and maintain a classroom community built on rituals and routines that promote structure and success for all students
- Performs other duties as assigned
What We Offer:
As a contracted employee, Teachers work 183 days per year and 7.25 hours per day.
Starting salary is $43,816.00 with increases for additional education and experience.
