Position Summary:
The Custodian/Housekeeper at Springfield Country Club is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and overall upkeep of the club’s facilities. The role involves a variety of cleaning tasks to ensure the club’s environment is safe, welcoming, and presentable for all members and guests.
Key Responsibilities:

General Cleaning:
- Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming of floors, carpets, and surfaces in public areas, offices, restrooms, and event spaces.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and other high-traffic areas.
- Ensure the cleanliness of windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
Event Support:
- Assist with setting up, cleaning, and breaking down for events and banquets.
- Ensure that event areas are maintained throughout events by providing additional cleaning and replenishing supplies as needed.
Trash and Recycling Management:
- Empty trash bins and recycling containers throughout the club.
- Properly dispose of waste materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
Floor Care:
- Ensure floors are in optimal condition through regular mopping, buffing, and waxing as needed.
- Ensure any spills or accidents are promptly cleaned to ensure the safety of members and guests.
Supply Management:
- Maintain an adequate inventory of cleaning supplies and report shortages to the supervisor.
- Properly store and handle cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Safety & Maintenance:
- Ensure that all areas are free of hazards and meet health and safety standards.
- Report any maintenance issues, damage, or repair needs to the supervisor or facilities manager promptly.
Customer Service:
- Provide exceptional customer service to club members and guests by maintaining a clean and pleasant environment.
- Respond to special cleaning requests from members, guests, or club management.
Qualifications:
- Previous cleaning or custodial experience preferred, ideally in a hospitality or service industry setting.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, and carpet cleaners.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and proper handling techniques.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines for cleaning and sanitation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Flexibility in work schedule, including availability on weekends or evenings, depending on the needs of the club.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable with working in a variety of environments, including kitchens, restrooms, and event spaces.
