Work Schedule:   7 hours per day; Monday through Friday, School Calendar Year

 

Reports to:  Building Principal

General Purpose

The EAP Assistant monitors all aspects of student work and behavior while the student is in the program.  The aide supervises and assists students with work on academic assignments and checks to see that students are meeting their daily goals.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and maintain a safe and comfortable environment conducive to learning in the EAP room/location.
  • Guide and tutor students to ensure the completion of academic assignments as provided by the classroom teacher.  This may require reinforcement of curriculum, activities and/or skills with small groups of students or one-on-one and may require regular collaboration with teacher(s).
  • Provide academic tutoring and supervision of students during the length of the student's assignment to EAP.
  • Follow procedures prescribed for the daily operation and maintenance of the program
  • Work directly with the principal and counselor to support good behavior and to ensure the welfare of all students assigned to EAP
  • Communicate and interact with the principal, counselor and teacher to discuss student progress, concerns, assignments and/or well being
  • Keep accurate records of students assigned to the EAP room and complete required  reports on appropriate forms as provided
  • Supervise students throughout the student lunch period and during restroom breaks
  • All other duties and tasks deemed necessary by the school administration

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completed at least two (2) years' of college or have passed the ParaPro Test (Praxis)
  • Age 18 or older
  • Experience in child development, working with children and/or working in a classroom environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in reading, writing and math
  • Ability and willingness to work with children from diverse backgrounds and with various academic and behavioral challenges
  • Organizational skills

Salary and Benefits

 

Payment Type:  $13.52 per hour

 

Benefits:  Per MCESP Agreement
