LOCATION: Springfield High School
CONTRACT PERIOD: 180 days
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Illinois PEL, with ESL endorsement 6-12
- Knowledge in the area of reading and language acquisition
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with other teachers and parents
- Ability to plan, implement and evaluate effective teaching strategies for English Language Learner
- Strong organizational and time management skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct assigned students in all language arts areas: reading, writing, speaking and comprehension
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of established curriculum goals and communicate clear objectives to the students for all lessons
- Create an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interest and abilities of students
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques
- Administer required assessments and tests to students in accordance with state and district testing requirements
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations
- Establish and maintain communication with parents and staff members
- Other duties as assigned
