POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The School Psychologist is directly responsible for the psychological assessment of academic, social, emotional, risk, and behavior. The School Psychologist monitors the completion of case study evaluations and participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) conferences and problem-solving meetings designing systems, programs, and services that maximize students’ social, emotional, and educational success.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Completion of Psychological/Psycho-Educational evaluation (record review, observation, teacher consult/input, formal testing, interpretation, and written reports) for all students as assigned, for initial eligibility and re-evaluation.
2. Monitor completion of case study evaluations and participate in IEP conferences and problem-solving meetings.
3. Lead crisis intervention efforts and provide insight into the development of functional assessments and support plans.
5. Integrate psychological services into the classroom environment as appropriate.
6. Provide assistance to staff in the design and implementation of appropriate interventions and
accommodations for students.
7. Contribute to program development that furthers the integration of social, coping, and problem-solving in the classroom.
10. Coordinate and/or collaborate with a range of individuals/agencies to promote and provide
comprehensive services to students and families.
10. Consultation with Special Education Staff (Team Chairs, Special Education and Regular Education Teachers, other school staff, and other Special Education service providers) concerning all students referred for determination of special education eligibility, and for students currently receiving special education services, as needed.
11. Completion of Psychological/Psycho-Educational evaluation (record review, observation, teacher consult/input, formal testing, interpretation, and written reports) for all students as assigned, for initial eligibility, and for re-evaluation purposes.
12. Proficiently use technology to communicate, compile reports, and collect data.
13. Participate in building or program activities and meetings as appropriate.
14. Consultation: Participate in a variety of school-based teams to assist in intervention planning and program planning (Crisis Team, School Evaluation Team, MTSS Team, 504 Team, Special Education Team, and Re-Entry Team).
15. Professional Development: Provide in-service opportunities for staff. Participate in district-wide or departmental in-service activities to maintain currency in knowledge and skills.
