About the Role:
We are looking for a highly skilled Laptop Repair Technician to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing laptops, including hardware replacements, software optimizations, and upgrade recommendations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering 5-star customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Interaction: Engage with customers during check-in, repair updates, and check-out, whether in person, over the phone, or via SMS/email, ensuring a professional and friendly experience.
- Exceptional Service: Provide 5-star customer service, maintaining a strong commitment to quality and satisfaction.
- Advanced Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Perform in-depth hardware and software diagnostics to accurately identify and resolve laptop-related issues.
- Hardware Repairs & Replacements: Conduct full laptop disassemblies and repairs, including replacing motherboards, storage drives (HDD/SSD), keyboards, touchpads, screens, batteries, cooling fans, hinges, and other critical components.
- Software & Performance Optimization: Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows operating systems, drivers, firmware, and essential software, optimizing laptop performance.
- Upgrade Recommendations: Assess system specifications and provide customers with expert advice on potential upgrades for improved performance and longevity.
- Parts Research & Ordering: Identify required replacement parts, ensuring compatibility and availability for a quick and efficient repair process.
- Documentation & Ticket Management: Maintain detailed repair notes, update service tickets, and ensure accurate tracking of work performed.
- Additional Duties: Support general shop operations, assist teammates, and perform other related tasks as needed.
Who We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Laptop Repair Technician with a strong troubleshooting mindset and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate is professional, reliable, and enjoys helping others.
In an ideal world, you would have:
- Expertise in laptop hardware and software, including BIOS configurations and system diagnostics.
- Experience with Windows operating systems, including installation, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Strong hardware repair skills, with the ability to diagnose and replace screens, RAM, storage drives (HDD/SSD), motherboards, cooling systems, and other components.
- Software troubleshooting proficiency, including virus removal, system recovery, and driver/firmware updates.
- Excellent communication skills to explain technical issues and solutions to non-technical customers.
- A commitment to outstanding customer service, ensuring a positive experience for every customer.
- CompTIA A Certification or 2 years of hands-on experience in laptop repair or equivalent training.
- Micro-soldering skills (e.g., HDMI ports, DC jacks, etc. under a microscope) are a huge plus!
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple repairs efficiently.
- A neat and professional appearance is required—poor hygiene is an absolute deal-breaker.
