About the Position:
The Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting all finance and accounting functions. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position is responsible for accounting and clerical activities, including journal entry data management and financial reporting. The Accountant frequently works independently, at times collaborating with managers across the organization to ensure accurate reporting. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a non-certified accounting professional to grow their career with the guidance and support of a tenured CPA with a well-established company deeply rooted in the community.
Job duties and responsibilities: Include but not limited to:
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements
- Generate account reports
- Produce weekly Manager's Reports
- Compile monthly sales reports
- Post journal entries
- Prepare weekly payroll journal entries
- Run monthly depreciation schedules
- Generate monthly inventory costing schedules
- Develop monthly raw materials spreadsheets
- Calculate and prepare monthly yield reports
- Create monthly commission schedules
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal tax regulations
- Assist with year-end tax reporting
- Support the annual audit process
- Prepare and distribute Board meeting packets
- Conduct final review and coordinate mailing of shareholder correspondence
- Schedule and coordinate quarterly Board meetings and annual shareholder meetings
- Perform other accounting tasks as assigned by the Controller
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance department

Experience:
Qualified individuals will have a minimum of 5 years of administrative experience in an accounting function, preferably within a manufacturing, warehouse, or shop setting. Experience in a multi-level organization with 60 employees is highly desirable. Significant experience working with the full financial statement across the entire organization is required. The successful candidate should have significant understanding of General Acceptable Accounting Practices (GAAP). Advanced skills in managing multiple general ledger accounts and utilizing sophisticated accounting software are essential skills for this role. The qualified candidate will be proficient with the entire Microsoft Office suite, with exceptional Microsoft Excel skills. This position requires an individual with outstanding time and priority management skills, strong organizational skills, problem-solving ability, as well as personal accountability.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in business, accounting, finance or a relevant field is preferred, but not required
