About the Position:
The Sales Representative plays a crucial role in supporting business growth. Reporting directly to the Sales Manager and the Vice President, this position is responsible for networking with contractors and farmers to educate them on the benefits of using Springfield Plastics pipe to fulfill their drainage needs. The agricultural sales representative’s time will include increasing market share in their territory as well as maintaining existing customer relationships. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an agricultural insider to grow professionally and financially with ongoing training and support as a part of a well-established company deeply rooted in the Midwest community.
Job duties and responsibilities: Include but not limited to:
- Network with contractors and farmers to educate them on the benefits of using Springfield Plastics pipe to fulfill their drainage needs
- Maintain adequate sales and customer account communication
- Present sales pitch to qualified customers
- Provide technical product specifications and recommendations based on customer needs
- Attend tradeshows as assigned in the territory
- Schedule the next action item as a part of a targeted sales plan
- Complete cold calls and follow-up
- Communicate purchase order details, contract terms, and conditions to Springfield Plastic administrative staff
- Develop sales plans for individual customers based on their needs
- Ensure availability to meet customer needs (flexible in hours, communication)
- Work closely with customer service team to ensure customer satisfaction
- Partner with technical support for complex customer applications
- Increase market share in assigned territory
- Maintain existing customer relationships
- Understand and follow trends/insights in the local and national agricultural market
- Learn and stay up-to-date on the technical side of business (drainage design and installation)
- Participate in ongoing sales team training meetings and conference calls

Experience:
Qualified individuals will have a minimum of 5 years of professional agricultural experience in a sales or technical function within the rural farming industry. Experience in a growing company with 60 employees is highly desirable. Significant experience developing long-term customer relationships and securing new client accounts is required. The successful candidate should have significant understanding and application of longer sales planning practices. Advanced skills in demonstrating value and promoting high-end quality products are essential for this role. The qualified candidate will be proficient with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and effective smartphone communications. This position requires an individual with outstanding customer focus, the ability to achieve goals, strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage time and priorities. A valid driver’s license is required.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s Degree in an agricultural field is highly preferred, or experience in the agriculture and sales industry
Work Location:
- This is a remote position – qualified candidates must reside within Iowa or Missouri sales territories
- Daily travel is necessary within the agricultural sales representative’s assigned territory
- Travel to company headquarters is required throughout the year - Springfield Plastics, Inc. Headquarters in Auburn, IL
- Seasonal trade show attendance is required
