Substitute School Nurse PRN-RN
Job Description
Qualifications: Professional Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in Nebraska. Currently certified in first aid and CPR.
Length of Contract and Hours: The Substitute School Nurse PRN-RN will work on an as needed basis.
Immediate Supervisor: The Substitute School Nurse PRN-RN will report directly to the Building Administrator and District Nurse.
General Job Description: The primary function of the Substitute School Nurse PRN-RN is to provide primary health and emergency care to students, promote wellness and serve as a resource for health concerns in the school setting.
Specific Job Functions:
- Knows and complies with district policies, rules, and procedures.
- Notifies Parents when students are sick.
- Provide first aid to students and staff according to basic first aid procedures, utilizing proper techniques.
- Provide medication to students according to district policy and in compliance with the Medication Administration Act, maintaining accurate documentation and accurate inventory counts of individual medications.
5 Perform or assist with procedures as delegated and supervised by the district nurse.
- Prioritize the needs of students presenting at the health office.
- Consult with the district nurse in determining appropriate care for a student. Promotes student attendance in the classroom by determining when return to the classroom is appropriate.
- Familiarizes themselves with the needs of students with individualized health concerns.
- Maintains and protects confidentiality and privacy of all persons served in the health room and refers requests for information to the school nurse.
- Communicates effectively with parents and staff on matters of illness, accidents, and policies of Springfield Platteview Community Schools.
- Promotes healthy habits in the school environments through proper hand washing, environmental decontamination and other necessary precautions.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized health room as directed by the school nurse.
