What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Kitchen Helper position at Springfield School District 186?
Substitute kitchen helpers work on an as-needed basis.
Must be available from 7:00 am to 2:00 pm – number of hours will vary. Rarely can be assigned as early as 6:00 am. Shifts can vary from 4 to 7 hours dependent on the needs of the school.
Duties may include assisting in food preparation, serving and cleaning.
Specific Responsibilities:
Must be willing and capable of following standardized recipes for quantity cooking.
Must have the ability to complete production records which are required by the Federal Guidelines.
Be responsible for safe operation, care and maintenance of all equipment.
Follow proper portion control to meet nutrition and Federal guidelines.
Be courteous and patient with all customers and staff.
Maintain high standard of cooking and proper sanitation procedures in all phases of food handling and meal preparation.
Must be able to meet physical demands of job – standing and walking for prolonged periods of time, pushing and pulling kitchen equipment, being able to bend, twist and lift 50 pounds.
Can be assigned to work at any of the 32 District Schools: Must have a phone number where he/she can be reached and have reliable transportation. No emails or texts will be sent for placement.
