What are the responsibilities and job description for the ELECTRICIAN position at Springfield Technical Community College?
The basic purpose of this work is to ensure the safe and adequate functioning of electrical systems and equipment on an extremely busy campus. Must be able to multi task and respond promptly to urgent situations.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Will test, repair, install and / or maintain various types of electrical systems and equipment.
- Troubleshoots electrical and related equipment.
- Maintains adequate inventory of equipment and materials.
- Inspects the work of outside contractors; determines materials and / or equipment necessary for a job and on-the-job procedure changes.
- Performs high volume of related work as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Exposed to the hazards of high voltage; climb and work from ladders and scaffolds. Working conditions may vary from job to another. May encounter anything from clean, open areas to dirty cramped spaces. Exposure to hot or cold temperatures. Possible exposure to distracting / uncomfortable noise levels. Standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, grasping, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; lift and / or move up to 50 pounds; and close vision and color vision.
