Qualifications:
Active PA Music K-12 certification is required.
Primary instruction and skill in STRINGS is required.
Bachelor's and/or Master's in Music Education with a focus on instrumental music preferred.
Successful experience developing a strong program where all students read music and perform on their instruments independently.
Successful experience teaching and fostering strings and orchestra instruction at the secondary level
Must be highly organized to maintain effective records.
Description:
The School District of Springfield Township is seeking candidates who possess excellent interpersonal skills, the desire to work with energetic students, and the ability to relate well within the school community. This position will be a Music Teacher for the district with a focus on String education. SDST is committed to diversity in our workplace and welcomes the opportunity to consider all candidates.
The following is a list of some of the responsibilities of this position:
- Responsible for continuing to grow a healthy strings program at the secondary level.
- Responsible for teaching all string instruments- proper posture, hand position, instrument carriage, proper tone production, bowing and plucking, proper finger patterns, etc.
-Plan and deliver instruction in the high school in related area elective courses (e.g., beginning guitar; keyboard, etc.)
- Plan and execute performances for students.
- Differentiate instruction so all learning styles are included and every student is reached.
- Develop lesson plans based on curriculum, department/school goals and students' needs.
- Evaluate student progress based on formal and informal assessments to inform instruction.
- Attend meetings and workshops to stay current with educational practice.
- Provide a safe, effective classroom environment that is focused on learning and student growth.
- Establish and maintain timely effective written/oral communication with students, parents, and building or district-level staff.
- Serve as a role model to students and within the community.
- Exercise good judgment when implementing school policies, procedures, guidelines and laws.

Terms of employment:
Full-time, contracted position to be determined in accordance with the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement. Position to begin at the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
