Job Summary
We are seeking experienced Injection Mold Tooling and Die Maker Technicians to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining high-quality tooling through preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and visual evaluations. This role requires someone who is a team player, skilled in working with precision tools, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Tooling Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs to maintain high-quality tooling.
- Assembly & Disassembly: Accurately disassemble and assemble molds in a safe and timely manner, ensuring all molds are clean and ready for use.
- Measuring & Calibration: Utilize precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and bore micrometers, to ensure high-quality workmanship.
- Tool Monitoring: Assist in maintaining an appropriate component inventory and reducing machine downtime.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Maintenance Technicians and Process Engineers to troubleshoot issues and improve tooling processes.
- Toolroom Maintenance: Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all tools and equipment used in the tool room.
- Production Support: Assist on the production floor to address issues with tools in press, minimizing downtime.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and tooling issues within the company computer system.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience: 5-8 years of hands-on experience in plastic injection mold repair or maintenance.
- Toolroom Equipment: 3-5 years of experience using hand-operated toolroom equipment.
- Mold Knowledge: Strong understanding of mold and die components and their respective characteristics.
- Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and understand tooling drawings.
- Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in computer tasks related to documentation and maintenance tracking.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Additional Skills and Experience
- Prototype Tool Making: Experience with prototype tool making.
- Injection Molding Process: Knowledge and experience in injection molding processes.
- Certification: Toolmaker/Mold Maker Journeyman certification is preferred.
- Trade School/College: Completion of a relevant trade school program or college degree is a plus.
Additional Requirements
- Must either own or be able to obtain basic hand tools required for the role.
- Ability to work with little to no supervision when given clear instructions.
Work Schedule
- Shifts: 8-hour shifts (1st or 2nd, possible split between the two).
- Overtime: Availability for overtime and weekend work as needed.
