Position Details
What you will do in this role:
- Enters appropriate ICD-CM/PCS codes into the patient information system using codes obtained from the current encoder system
- Finalizes abstract status to release codes to Fiscal Services within three to five (3- 5) days of discharges.
- Assigns corrections for any missing or incomplete documentation preventing final coding
- Queries physicians when code assignments are not clear or documentation in the record is inadequate for coding purposes, notifying supervisor of any outstanding queries beyond approved timeframe
- Maintains current department productivity and accuracy standards.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree with RHIT, CCS or CCA preferred.
- Previous coding experience in information management at psychiatric health care facility preferred
- RHIT, CCS or CCA preferred
- May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
