Under the direction of the Power Generation Superintendent, this position carries out specific job assignments and sees to the maintenance and installation of computer automation systems, SKADA, and instrumentation for the Springville City Power Department.
- Assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing instrumentation in substations and generation facilities which may include fiber optics and Multiple Address Systems (MAS).
- Maintain power department servers, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), firewalls, routers, and network equipment.
- Perform Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) installation, programming, project layout, and network terminal (NTU) installation.
- Assist with maintaining and repairing of hydro electric controls and programmable equipment, as per Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requirements.
- Will be trained to operate generators for the production of power for the city.
- Will be trained to monitor municipal electrical systems and the usage of electric power and culinary water systems.
- May assist in the maintenance and repairs of generation equipment.
- Dispatch after-hours electrical crews and equipment via SCADA and the City radio communications to restore electric service.
- Required to be on-call and work a rotating shift.
All other duties as assigned.
Must be able to solve problems in stressful conditions. Must be able to troubleshoot and repair all types of communication topologies, including wireless and fiber communication system, IP networks and copper communication infrastructures. Must be willing to expand their knowledge by formal and informal education programs. Requires the ability to perform duties and work for extended periods of time with minimal supervision. Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, have good vision, and hear. The employee must frequently lift and / or move up to 75 pounds.
