What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks Maintenance Worker - Seasonal position at Springville City Corporation?
Under the direction of the Parks Supervisor performs duties related to maintaining parks and public buildings.
Duties:
Performs all types of duties associated with canyon parks, city parks, cemeteries, and facilities maintenance.
Performs mowing, trimming, weeding, fertilizing, shrub maintenance, flower bed preparation/flower planting, trash removal, cleaning facilities, event set up and take down, and other associated work.
Is responsible for maintenance and upkeep of all equipment utilized in the performance of the above mentioned work.
Checks all City/Canyon parks, and cemeteries, against the Utah Risk Management compliance checklist and least twice per month March through November.
Thoroughly checks playgrounds against the safety compliance checklist at least once each week.
Visually checks all playgrounds equipment and surface area each day.
Record information and keep files on playground and property safety compliance inspections.
Cleans restrooms and picnic tables.
Picks up garbage and litter.
Carry out minor repairs and maintenance on playgrounds, as needed.
Assists with sprinkler repairs as needed.
Attends required monthly staff safety meetings.
May assist in providing customer service to patrons in relation to cemetery burials and/or canyon parks reservations as assigned by the Parks Supervisor and/or Director.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must have experience in park maintenance. Must possess a valid Utah Driver's License. Must be available to work shifts between the hours of 7:00 am and 10:00 pm. Must be available to work shifts on any day of the week during any time of the year. Basic computer skills preferred and ability to use general word and spreadsheet programs.
Must be able to perform physical labor including bending, stooping, standing, and lifting over 50 pounds on a regular basis. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather for extended periods of time.
